Sebastian Speckmann

The artist Sebastian Speckmann works with the media linocut, woodcut, drawing, computer printout, collage and installation. The prints, which tend to be dark, show motifs from his private photo archive, but also from books, magazines and illustrated books. The pictures thus emerge from his own treasure trove of experience, memories and images. The stagings based on still lifes, landscapes and portraits are presented, which offer points of contact to the world of experience of the individual viewer.

After graduating with Prof. Neo Rauch in Leipzig, Sebastian Speckmann took part in various galleries and museum exhibitions and in 2018 he had his first solo exhibition in Switzerland - at the Franz Gertsch Museum. The established artist is also represented in major private collections and some open institutions.
Sebastian Speckmann was born in 1982 in Wolfen (D) and lives today in Leipzig (D). He studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (with Neo Rauch and Heribert C. Ot-tersbach) and the Royal Academy of Arts, London (GB).
